Mitt Romney has been diagnosed with COVID.

According to a statement from his office, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.

According to the statement, Romney, 74, is asymptomatic and has been completely vaccinated and fortified against the virus.

“He is presently symptom-free and will isolate himself and work from home for the required amount of time. Mrs Romney’s DNA was found to be negative.”

The broader picture: During the Omicron spike, Romney was one among dozens of senators who tested positive for COVID-19.

Over the previous ten days, Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) both reported favourable findings.

Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Cory Booker (D-N.J.) both tested positive earlier this month, while Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) reported positive findings late last month.
